Founded in 1948 by John Pridgeon and Donald Clay, we are one of the largest independent, value-added manufacturers and suppliers of automotive stamped and fine-blanked components in the United States.
Mission: The Strategic Sourcing Specialist for Quoting communicates business unit needs, manages the supplier quoting process, negotiates contracts, and aids in supplier development in order to build strong supplier relationships and capitalize on P&C supplier capabilities in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies.
Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Business or Engineering preferred)
- Experience in stamping-specific manufacturing and/or experience working in a similar purchasing position is desired
Strategic Skills:
- Business acumen of the automotive and industrial markets
- An understanding of cost verses price
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally occasionally up to 5%
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Ability to learn to read and interpret parts and/or equipment drawings
- Ability to learn to read and provide basic interpretation of various customer specifications
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
Relationship Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate requirements with suppliers and processors and must be able to work with potential suppliers to determine optimal processes or parts for each desired application
- Strong active-listening and consensus-building skills, influencing team members and building credibility with all stakeholders
- Experience interacting both professionally and positively with internal and external customers
The Primary Activities of the Strategic Sourcing Specialist include:
Quoting:
- Lead cost estimating efforts to provide timely and accurate component, sub-contract, and steel prices for use in customer quotes for all P&C locations.
- Recognize, consider, and apply customer requirements in terms of standards and specifications during the quoting and/or sourcing process.
- Provide "Total Cost" information to Cost Estimating for use in customer quotes. Total cost includes piece price, freight costs, packaging costs, applicable surcharges, minimum lot charges, tooling and fixture costs, documentation (PPAP, recertification) fees, etc.
- Work with existing and potential suppliers in the US and abroad to develop a "Quick-Quote" method and/or reference charts to expedite the quoting process. Maximize the use of accurate price matrices for common steel, component, and sub-contract processes in order to continually reduce customer request-for-quote response time.
- Recognize and consider the P&C process, equipment and die requirements in terms of standards and specifications during the quoting and/or sourcing process.
Supplier Development:
- With the Quality Assurance department, establish improvement objectives and opportunities for supplier partners throughout the world as needed to achieve desired results.
- Work with Research & Development to locate suppliers with high-tech capabilities that can support P&C with new and developing technologies for quoting, prototyping, and production.
- Develop sources for capital, MRO, steel, sub-contractors, purchased components, and scrap in all present and future regions of interest.
- Recommend and develop new suppliers as needed to support global and cross-functional business plan objectives.
- Promote strong supplier relations through partnerships.
Teamwork/Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in the development of the business plan and determine purchasing metrics and strategies.
- Seek and implement cost reduction and cost avoidance plans for Purchasing.
- Participate in lean initiatives.
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities (die development trials, material sourcing, specification) as required.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.
- Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
- Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner.
- Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.
- Continue to increase necessary technical knowledge (including Word, Excel, Outlook, QAD, EAM, CEBOS, PLEX).
Professionalism:
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Work necessary overtime, as needed, to ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area. Actively participate in Lean Office.

- Assist in maintaining P&C values (Integrity, People, Customers, Ownership, We Can If..., Safety) daily, through thoughts and actions.
