Founded in 1948 by John Pridgeon and Donald Clay, we are one of the largest independent, value-added manufacturers and suppliers of automotive stamped and fine-blanked components in the United States.
The position will support the company as a quality resource through assisting the Quality Manager with all tasks related to systems for quality in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies.
Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED. (An Associate's degree in Quality Science, Pre-Engineering, or related field is preferred).
- Experience working in a quality environment and manufacturing with knowledge of quality documentation.
- Experience with hiring process, performance appraisals, and disciplinary processes
- Ability and willingness to learn and master quality tools, including blueprints/drawings, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), capability, and validation processes
- Proficiency in MS Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Strong self-motivation, with ability to manage personal work load with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work well in a team-based work setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization skills, including detail-oriented project-management skills
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule
- An excellent work record, including attendance
Essential Functions:
Containment Control:
- Manage and oversee all containment and sorting activities/personnel.
- Recommend and lead sort reductions to the Quality Manager and General Manager.
- Lead determination of what internal and external product is routed through sort and containment.
- Establish sort rates for all containment areas.
Quality Systems:
- Oversee receiving inspection and coordination, record and track subcontracted parts for certified status, file appropriate information, and maintain certified dock-to-stock system.
- Manage and oversee the quality auditing process, via managing/guiding the quality auditors.
- Be knowledgeable of, and responsible for, the achievement of all quality-related goals, including PPAP, Cost of Quality (COQ), First Time Quality (FTQ), error-proofing, Part Per Million (PPM), and adherence to control plans.
- Maintain responsibility for process conformance results via weekly line side/layered audits.
- Use appropriate problem solving methods to lead the development of successful action plans that achieve permanent corrective actions and eliminate non-conformances. Initiate and participate in 8D or 5 Why's teams depending on the internal requirements are.
Personnel/Workforce Management:
- Schedule, review and approve team members' schedules daily.
- Drive team suggestions and implementation of ideas to increase efficiency, resulting in cost reductions.
- Oversee on the job training efforts, working with the Human Resources Department to ensure necessary training and documentation occurs.
- Have an active role in the development of departmental standards and be responsible for implementation.
- Complete and present annual performance appraisals for all direct report employees, outlining positive and negative performance, and documenting a plan of action for sub-par performers.
- Know where team members excel, as well as where team members are challenged. Apply this information to attain team goals, and to enhance the overall well-being of the team members.
- Provide consistent feedback to employees regarding job task performance and accomplishment of goals. Address unacceptable performance by administering discipline actions fairly using the company handbook.
- Participates with the Human Resources Department in the process of hiring and/or terminating employees as needed.
