Position Summary
Performs comprehensive psycho-social evaluations and provides individual/group counseling in order to treat the mental health concerns of clients. Provides primary supervision of social work graduate students.
This position''s responsibilities and collaborative efforts are to work with the following:
1. Clients/Client Families - in order to assess and provide individual/group counseling, intervention, and/or referral.
2. Social Workers/Psychologists/Counselors - in order to facilitate the assessment, referral and treatment of clients.
3. Social Work (Graduate) Students/Graduate Assistants - in order to train and supervise.
4. Faculty/Staff/Administrators - in order to consult regarding interpersonal problems, social determinants of health, and mental health issues.
5. Nurses/Psychiatrists/Physicians - in order to consult and assist with client/patient care, and collaborate on policies and procedures.
6. Community Agencies - in order to consult, provide and refer for adjunct services.
7. Other Health Care Professionals - in order to make and receive referrals for counseling.
8. Clerical Staff - in order to request work and update schedule and records systems.
9. Public/Media - in order to answer inquiries and provide mental health-care information.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of graduate study beyond a Bachelor''s degree, such as a Masters in Social Work; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in counseling in a health/mental health environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and State certification as a Social Worker. Applicant must be fully-licensed in the State of Michigan (LMSW). ACSW may be required in order to provide primary supervision of social work students.
Desired Qualifications
May require valid vehicle operator''s license where needed to perform duties of the position. Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
This position requires, or will require prior to the completion of the probationary period: knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the internet.

Work Hours
Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. but may vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.
