Teach courses in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) and energy management consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Course topics include, but are not limited to:
• Refrigeration cycle and system performance
• AC/DC electrical theories and troubleshooting procedures including motors, transformers, relays, and automation systems
• Residential and commercial HVAC/R equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
• Piping procedures related to the HVAC/R industry which include soldering, brazing, threading, solvents, and compression pipe fitting methods.
• Identifying and implementing energy conservation and efficiency measures
• Calculating energy needs for homes or businesses
• Knowledge of and application of the applicable codes and standards that govern the HVAC/R industry.
The incumbent will participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and College initiatives. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy
