Summary:
The RN Coordinator is responsible for managing the practice’s daily activities, the revenue cycle within the clinics, and training and monitoring of the staff throughout the day by monitoring each site and adjusting as needed to meet patient needs. Responsibilities include assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, and overseeing department quality assurance. Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervision of duties of practice but not limited to: patient scheduling, excellent execution of all front-end functions, interviewing, staff hiring, training and mentoring, corrective action and employee development and evaluations. Leads by example.
- In conjunction with the Practice Manager, assists with new staff orientation, mandatory education and staff competencies. competencies.
- Coordinates daily staffing to meet procedure/customer needs.
- Responsible for the development, reporting and monitoring of staff productivity/efficiency and quality metrics to Manager.
- Clinical contact with patients in all age groups: Newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- Ability to appropriately assess, care for and treat patients according to the age-appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
- Serves as a resource for customers (physicians, nurses, technologists, etc.) in resolving problems. Takes independent action to resolve problems and customer complaints, and keeps management informed of issues and resolutions.
- Maintains practice payroll, and time and attendance.
- Responsible to attend Covenant Leadership meetings and Covenant Medical Group meetings as scheduled.
- Completes required competencies, inservice programs, annual mandatory education and continuing education activities to meet the organization’s expectations.
- Process accounts payable and reporting of inconsistencies to Patient Accounting or Practice Manager. Manages cost effective department budget.
- Exemplifies financial stewardship by effectively and efficiently managing financial resources to achieve desired outcomes. Orders supplies within budget constraints.
- Strong working knowledge of professional revenue cycle within specialty.
- Reviews and maintains the charges for accuracy of office and procedure codes necessary to properly reflect services provided.
- Assures hospital diagnostic and procedural codes, including billing modifiers/hospital blocks/authorization, are entered into system for billing purposes in a manner that properly reflects third-party payer requirements.
- Continually monitors, identifies and/or recommends ways in which departmental tasks/process may be streamlined to gain efficiency.
- Assists Manager in developing, enhancing and updating policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains smooth and effective relationships with ancillary departments within Covenant HealthCare and other healthcare organizations. Works with facilities services and keeps building running smoothly.
- Demonstrates and maintains all OSHA, MIOSHA, HFAP, Corporate Compliance regulations and legal issues, under the guidance of the Practice Manager.
- Oversees and maintains requirements of Patient Centered Medical Home.
- Functions with an awareness of safety issues. Demonstrates and maintains confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current State of Michigan license to practice as an RN.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a clinical setting.
- Two (2)-plus years’ supervisory and/or leadership experience in a physician practice, specialty office or clinic environment or equivalent preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS provider certification.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong working knowledge of software systems including Epic, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and electronic billing.
- Clinical knowledge as it relates to patient care within the department.
- Working knowledge of all procedures performed with the department.
- Knowledge of credentialing physician with third-party payer and other healthcare organizations. Serves as principal departmental contact for billing and coding questions.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, ancillary staff and physicians.
