Pay and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $28.69-$36.65, dependent on qualifications and experience. The City of Kentwood offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 9% employer retirement plan contribution, 11 paid holidays, three personal days, 12 sick days and up to four weeks of vacation annually.
We’re proud to be among the first municipal employers in West Michigan to offer a fully paid parental leave benefit. Our policy provides employees with four weeks of fully paid leave following birth, adoption or placement for adoption. Employees who give birth are eligible for an additional two weeks of leave for a total of six weeks fully paid.

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Engineering and Inspections Director, main responsibilities for this role include performing electrical inspections on commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, as well as safety inspections of new and existing properties for compliance with codes and regulations.
Our ideal candidate has high school diploma or GED and completion of an apprenticeship, two years of journey-level experience in the electrician trade, a valid Michigan driver's license, and a State of Michigan Electrical Inspector license. About the Inspections Department
The City of Kentwood’s Inspections Department serves as a resource for the community to assist with construction projects. From home projects to business renovations, the department provides residents and businesses with the information needed to successfully complete construction projects and transform their space. The department performs plan reviews, issues permits and conducts building inspections, as well as electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections. The City also conducts rental inspections as part of its rental property oversight program.
