SUMMARY
The Court Administrator, under the direction of the Circuit Judge, is responsible for the overall supervision of administrative and operational activities of the 11th Circuit Court in Schoolcraft County. Responsible for the scheduling and monitoring of criminal and civil cases for the Circuit Court. Responsible for all the duties of the ADR Clerk. Also performs a variety of office and court support work, which includes phone conferences, filing, preparing orders, letters, forms and other documents and generating required reports.
As official court recorder for 11th Circuit Court, makes a verbatim record of all proceedings in accordance with statutory requirements. In turn, prepares transcripts upon request within designated time limits. Performs any office related work as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
1. Required to assist the Judge in typing legal and confidential material,
organizing, coordinating, and processing information, maintaining court files and records, scheduling appointments and court hearings, transcribing legal dictation, and drafting correspondence and legal documents for judicial review and signature. Compose correspondence in response to a problem or routine inquiry as authorized and directed.
2. Provides routine clerical supportive assistance as part of normal court processes.
3. Responsible for the scheduling and monitoring of criminal and civil cases for the Circuit Court. This includes coordinating the Judge, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and other necessary parties in court proceedings.
4. This position serves as primary liaison to the State Court Administrative Office and ensures compliance with all mandatory reporting requirements for the county.
5. Serves as the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) clerk. All civil cases are scheduled for phone conferences. The ADR clerk then prepares and sends Telephonic Scheduling Conference Notices, Scheduling Orders and all Case Evaluation Notices, Case Evaluation Results and ensures the proper sealing of the case evaluation. The ADR Clerk also maintains alternative dispute resolution information in the computer system, appraising the status of case evaluation decisions and tracking completion of facilitative mediation matters. The files are retained per the Court retention requirements.
6. Takes a verbatim record of arraignments, sentencings, motions, show cause hearings, trials, and other court proceedings using digital recording equipment. Creates a virtual courtroom using a combination of Polycom and Zoom when necessary.
7. Maintains a daily log of all court proceedings held.
8. On a contractual basis, personally prepares transcripts to final form or employs a transcriptionist. In either event, proofreads transcripts for complete accuracy and certifies to the accuracy of the transcripts.
9. Provides information and assistance to attorneys, law enforcement personnel, organizations, agencies, officials, and the general public regarding court policies and procedures. Receives calls, determining amount and type of information to provide and whether the Judge’s attention to a matter is required. Responds to inquiries within scope of authority and refers others to the proper source.
10. Perform any related work as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Certification or the Ability to become certified as a Certified Electronic Recorder (CER) pursuant to MCR.8.108(G)
Ability to type and data input.
Ability to reason and process numbers effectively.
A valid driver’s license and valid notary public certificate/eligibility.
