OVERVIEW:
The Plant Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Manager will act as trainer, coach, and integrator of Safety 2.0 strategy and HOP philosophy. As a Plant Human & Organizational Performance Manager the prime objectives are to protect and enhance the safety of our employees through prevention, foster a culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core values and achieved best in class performance in support of a zero loss mindset. As a member of plant leadership team, you are expected to support, influence and lead various plant wide efforts and initiatives. You will act as a coach and advisor to the site, providing support and technical assistance in the administration of and compliance with federal, state, local, and company HSE requirements. Implement standards and procedures that protect human safety and the environment.
Reed City is known as Michigan's crossroads, where two of the state's longest trails intersect. Our plant has a passion for what we do and are proud of the product we create for our consumers and our community. Our Reed City Plant focuses on making Yoplait yogurt with over four million units produced a day. To sustain this much yogurt production, the plant has a raw milk processing plant included. This plant is a high volume, highly motivated plant and is looking for someone who wants to continue growing professionally to help this plant continue to thrive.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Builds Safety 2.0 and HOP capability in leaders of all functions and Plant HOP Advocates
Serves as the primary trainer/coach of HOP principles and Operational Learning
Provides oversight and feedback to HOP Advocates as related to Learning Teams
Analyzes Potential Serious Injury or Fatality (PSIF) data and mentors Manufacturing/Maintenance/Logistics Supervisors on how to ask better questions and understand how work is done
Collaborates with Plant Learning and Development (L&D) to creatively evolve the site's capacity to learn and improve
Works closely with Plant Engineering to ensure Safety 2.0 critical risk management concepts are understood and enhanced controls are applied to eliminate Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) potential
Partners with Plant Human Resources to assess and improve psychological safety and effectiveness of leader safety conversations in the workplace
Oversees the Site's Environmental and Safety Management System (ESMS) and compliance with Company S&E Standards and local regulations
Leads ESMS process improvement efforts in alignment with Safety 2.0 strategy
Manage direct reports within this role to ensure plant safety remains constant priority
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in EHS related field is preferred, but would consider additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of education
5+ years experience in a Health, Safety & Environment role in a manufacturing environment
Ability to travel approximately 10% of time
Demonstrated operations and leadership experience, specifically strategic integration of Safety 2.0 and HOP philosophy
Strong technical knowledge and experience related safety and critical risk management
Learning mindset with the ability to influence, communicate, teach and coach across the plant and organization
Strong communication skills with preference for someone who can speak a relevant secondary language
Proficient in computer software applications and media technologies
Experience in food and beverage manufacturing preferred
