Job Description:
Our Application Developer is a critical contributor to our entire company. ?In this position, you will work closely with all departments including Operations/Manufacturing, Marketing, Accounting and Customer Service in order to create efficiencies that enhance the customer experience. This position requires exceptional ability to assess needs, define requirements, manage tasks, and prioritize work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The most important quality is a "get it done" work ethic. There is a family dynamic at The Pond Guy that extends to the customer as we strive to give them the highest quality service possible.
Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.
- Working as a key component of the IT team to develop new desktop and web applications for both internal and external processes
- Development of user-friendly .NET-based applications using C#
- Design and creation of relational database schemas
- SQL Server development (Stored Procedures, Triggers, User Functions)
- Specifications/Requirements gathering as needed
- Routine daily maintenance of existing sites and applications
- Identify and troubleshoot software defects, providing timely resolution to minimize downtime and improve user experience
Remote Position
Our Application Developer is a work from home position. However, there are certain times our Application Developer may be required to come onsite, or report virtually, for training or other employer sponsored events that are during or outside your normal work schedule. Remote employees must be able to meet the standards of The Pond Guy's telecommuting policy which include internet speeds and workspace requirements.
Don't know much about ponds? That's ok! We have a full, week-long class that helps you get your toes wet. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of The Pond Guy's proactive approach to pond management.
Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
- 3 to 5 years programming experience in Microsoft .NET, including experience with Azure and Azure IoT Hub.
- Strong proficient in using C# language to develop software applications, web applications, and APIs
- Skilled in MS SQL Server and TSQL
- Good knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Ability to work on both front-end and back-end development tasks, including creating user interfaces, designing databases, and writing server-side code
- Strong understanding of secure development lifecycle and security best practices
- Able create and maintain RESTful APIs that integrate with different software systems
- Experience with GitHub or other version control systems
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and data warehousing
- Having Mobile App Development experience is a PLUS
- Ability to meet the standards of telecommuting (remote work) policy
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients' timelines and budgets
- Ability to grow professionally in a highly flexible and fast-moving environment
- Able to focus, with a keen attention to detail
- Possess solid presentation, listening and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, Agile environment with excellent problem-solving skills
- Self-driven, proactive and a team player
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
This position requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk and looking at a computer screen for typing for long periods of time. In addition, portions of the position require Software Developers to shadow other departments that may require physical activity including lifting 25-35 pounds and standing for long periods of time.
We need a Developer that has a positive attitude and the words "can't" and "impossible" are not a part of your vocabulary. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks.
Availability
You must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm Monday – Friday with the occasional evening or weekend projects that must be done outside of normal business hours.
