Perform financial evaluation of engineering changes, calculating change factors including labor, burden, material costs, part geometry, manufacturing facility capabilities and capacity, and commercial factors including Selling, General, and Administrative (SG&A) expenses and profit. Estimate cost of new components including conventional ICE passenger vehicle transmission system gears, shafts, and bearings, and engine cooling system pumps and hoses; and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Electric Drive Unit (DU) gears, shafts and bearings, and DU cooling system. Evaluate global component costing and volumes, and estimate vehicle component and supplier tooling and fixtures costs through analysis of content of raw materials, component manufacturing processes such as heat treat, milling, machining, stamping, welding, casting and injection molding, and required equipment for component manufacturing facilities. Required domestic and international travel to automotive component suppliers for site visits to assess supplier manufacturing processes and to define improvements in manufacturing processes up to 36 days per year (equal to ~10% annual travel).
