Position Summary:
The Global Product Manager for gear pumps will be responsible for defining and executing the strategic plan to achieve growth targets for Ingersoll-Rand's industrial gear pump business unit. He or she will be responsible for the product strategy/roadmap, managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and defining the product vision. This role will lead across functions (Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales) to ensure financial (bookings, revenue, margin and gross profit/EBITDA) and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Responsibilities:
New Product/Service Launch Process
New Product Development and Expansions:Initiate projects for new products/services or portfolio expansions. Manage a pipeline of prioritized projects under development on a regular basis. Guide all projects through the Ingersoll Rand Product Development Process (IRPDP) stage gate process.
Channel Development:Develop and execute training sessions for regional market leads, customer service, sales employees, and customers including global distribution partners, OEMs, EPCs and end users
Sales Activation:Coordinate with the sales team to determine and develop what resources/sales aides are required to win in the market. Develop and activate go to market (where to play) plans.
Pricing:Lead the execution of the required analyses to determine the recommended prices and pricing policies for new or updated products/services or extensions. Sustain value based price models. Ensure that the pricing strategy balances the need to increase market share and maximize profit margins.
Marketing Content Development:Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans (including targeted programs and promotions) for gear pump products and service extensions
Strategic Portfolio Management
Financial Reporting Analysis:Prepare "business pulse", launch progress and financial reports on assigned product/service lines on a regular basis to keep portfolio managers and business leaders informed of progress on volume, profitability and quality targets
Long Range Planning:Support long range plan development, P&L and yearly operating plan
Technology Road Mapping:Support the development and maintenance of a technology roadmap for assigned product line
Market Analysis:Conduct competitive analysis to determine portfolio new product development (NPD) and existing product enhancement needs. Identify desirable new markets and execute plans to penetrate and establish/grow market share.
In-Line Product Management
Execute and Adjust Plans:Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to review and adjust the marketing strategy, plan (including targeted programs and promotions) and countermeasures for all existing product/service lines based on performance
Forecasting:Make recommendations to Operations on production volumes, schedules and timing based on output of detailed demand planning
Maintain/Help Negotiate Pricing: Review and approve/reject adjustments to offer structure, pricing, policies or product/service features to better meet customer needs and expectations, based on regular product/service line reviews. Ensure pricing changes to all existing product/service lines to cover for inflation, market trends, competitor actions, changes to offer structure or features, and/or lifecycle stages
Cross Functional Interaction:Interacts with appropriate functional groups to ensure product design, quality, reliability and profitability goals are met
Customer Facing:Recommend product/service changes to the engineering or service fulfillment teams based on customer feedback, product/service line reviews or opportunities for productivity enhancements
Qualifications:
5+ years of product management-related experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar area is required; MBA is desired
Knowledge of positive displacement pump technologies; experience with internal and external gear pumps is highly preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
SAP or other similar ERP experience a plus
Ability to travel up to 25% both domestic and international
