Job Summary
Performs design, implementation, maintenance and daily operation of key business applications, servers, storage, and/or network infrastructure. Responsibilities also include supporting end users, maintaining security infrastructure, researching new technology of benefit to the company, planning and coordinating system utilization, performing capacity planning. Performs installation, maintenance, training, and user support as required; assists in coordinating projects to meet future needs. Investigates and analyzes system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.
Hybrid Schedule 3 days in office and 2 from home.
Job Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Designs and implements new servers, applications, infrastructure, and other systems.
Administers servers, applications, network infrastructure, and other systems.
Troubleshoots infrastructure, systems, and applications to identify and correct operational issues.
Provides 2nd and 3rd tier help desk support for employees. Provides on-call support to as required.
Acts as project manager for system implementations and changes.
Develops and implements various training and instruction programs for users on the use of key systems.
Ensures that systems are installed and maintained to adhere to best practices in security.
Ensures that records for equipment inventory, licenses, and contracts are properly maintained.
Maintains software/hardware licensing and contracts
Researches new technology products to enhance company operations
Communicates with employees at all levels of the organization on related issues daily.
Communicates and negotiates with vendors
Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Regulations consistently
Required Competencies & Knowledge
Knowledge of:
Technical knowledge of Key Business Systems. This may include, based on specific assignment:
Windows Server, Desktop, Active Directory, Terminal Services
VMWare, and managing servers in a virtual environment
Citrix, and managing virtual desktop environments
Network technology, including switching (Cisco), VLANs, TCP/IP concepts, VPN, switch interconnections, basic routing, WAN technologies, wireless connectivity
SAN storage technology
SQL Server
Ability to learn and support key business systems
Working knowledge of IT best practices, including security protocols and policies
Familiarity with equipment and applications used in a manufacturing environment, including label printers, scanners, process control interfaces.
Ability to:
Generate and meet appropriate program objectives, and the persistence necessary to ensure high levels of quality and effectiveness
Support and manage a high volume of tasks
Adapt to new situations and challenges, as circumstances demand
Stay abreast to technology: new and emerging developments in the field of servers, programming, networking and telecommunications
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Document effectively
Ensure collaborative relationships with industry, trade, other associations, regulatory agencies and Hearthside staff.
Work effectively with all levels of the organization
Lead 'best in class' behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy focus
Minimum Qualifications
4 years experience in Systems Administration and/or Network Administration or overall equivalent
4 year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field is preferred
Certifications in Microsoft operating systems, virtualization technologies, and data center hardware technologies is a plus.
