ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all imaging aspects of multiple, simultaneous client studies in a hands-on fashion.  
• Liaise with fellow imaging and pharmacology staff to provide quality service to clients.  Set and adhere to realistic experimental timelines and communicate those with clients and staff.  
• Possess an in-depth applications based understanding of multiple imaging modalities, including procedures and data generation.
• Responsible for deadline-based creation and compilation of draft client final reports (including proficiency with Materials and Methods). 
• Perform scientific writing and data analysis.
• Assist with drafting of SOPs, animal protocol applications and other documents.
• Manage study-related client communications.  Responsible for provision of timely interim study updates to include analysis as necessary.  May participate in protocol design and provide advice ad-hoc.  Will consult Supervisor to handle more complex issues.
• Independently coordinate and schedule inter-team studies and projects.
• Study protocol design and issuance of client bids.
• Understanding of basic concepts of pharmacology across one or more disease areas.
• Ability to accurately conduct routine statistical analyses.  Moderate understanding of calculations and underlying theories.
• May manage the basic daily functions of technicians, including but not limited to, work flow scheduling, training, assistance and review of data acquisition, quality control and safety.  May provide feedback/consultation to Supervisor who will perform personnel actions (hiring, firing, transfers) and deliverance of annual performance and salary reviews.
• Conduct independent training of techs to full certification in specific areas.
• Utmost attention to radiation safety and awareness of humane animal care practices/ initiatives to be applied in daily work.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures, approved Vertebrate Use Protocols and other regulations.  May be responsible for creation and maintenance.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.  May lead special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in science, engineering or related discipline.
• EXPERIENCE: One to five years of increasingly-progressive experience desired.
• OTHER: Strong interpersonal, written communication, organizational, mathematical, and project management skills required.  Computer literacy required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Works in a research environment with exposure to sharps and potentially caustic chemicals and substances of unknown hazard.  Radiation present.  Must function while adhering to various PPE requirements.  Noise level in Vivarium and Imaging Suites is moderate to loud. 
• Regularly works with animals with risk of exposure to allergens, zoonotic diseases and biohazards.
• Laboratory is BioSafety Level II.
• Ability to lift 10 pounds and bend and move within rack/bubble environment.  Ability to climb and work with and around preclinical imaging equipment.

ADDITIONAL

• This position requires overtime, weekend, holiday and/or afterhours shift coverage, as needed.
