FLOOR COORDINATOR
RATE OF PAY: $12.50 per hour
MINIMUM AGE: 18 years
HOURS: Up to 28 hours per week; This employee will be required to work various shifts, including the 5:30 a.m. weekday shift and day or evening shifts on the weekends.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This employee is responsible for assisting in the supervision of the fitness staff, maintaining fitness area cleanliness and enforcing rules, and overseeing the running track area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):
- Evaluates the facility and makes sure all areas are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Trains staff, with teamwork and efficiency as primary goals, and coordinates staff schedules.
- Supervises programs, activities, and additional services as provided.
- Sets up any equipment necessary for the athletic function.
- Leads, instructs, advises and promotes individuals participating in specified activities.
- Resolves problems and/or complaints from spectators, participants and fellow employees.
- Enforces the rules of the facility with social responsibility.
- Performs light cleaning duties including dry mopping floors, etc.
- Follows established guidelines, policies and procedures and reports problems as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Fitness floor coverage for specific shifts.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance including required staff meetings and training
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of recreation programs.
- Considerable knowledge and experience in fitness and sports activities.
- Considerable experience in supervising and monitoring youth preferred.
- Considerable knowledge of athletic equipment, facility and service operations preferred.
- Computer experience for ability to create staff schedules, contracts, and program forms.
- Ability to speak and work with the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with other employees, program participants and the general public.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
POST OFFER REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory completion of background check and a drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law.
