About the Role:
As a member of the Analysis & Structures Team, which supports the management of some of our labs. You will be joining a dynamic group of engineers responsible for the providing technical oversight for a family of ground vehicles. The engineer will participate in activities manpower planning, talent acquisition, performance evaluations along with guidance in the areas of RCCA, failure analysis, obsolescence and re-certifications as required.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
This position will lead a staff of about 20 diverse engineers from several engineering disciplines. It includes manpower planning, hiring, DEI, performance evaluations and other personnel related actions.
This position is responsible for a group of laboratories (Materials Lab, Hydraulic/Suspension Lab, Air Flow Lab, and the Dynamometer Lab) providing technical oversight as needed, and administrative oversight to ensure effective lab operation.
This position supports current Production and Supplier RCCA, failure analysis, obsolescence, substitution, re-certification as required.
Ensures lab safety processes and works with GDLS health and safety to ensure that proper safety protocols are in place and followed.
Oversees that lab equipment is properly maintained and in good working order. Coordinates the writing of capital projects to replace aging equipment and arrange for repair and preventative maintenance of existing equipment. In addition, will be involved with the strategic planning of lab improvements, expansion and new capabilities as new technologies are introduced and implemented.
Manages the Materials Engineering function which includes, drawing review, engineering support, lab testing and HazMat review and contract deliverable creation.
Manages analysis group including FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) operation and ant Dimensional Analysis functions.
Ensures software and manpower needs are met and analysis is completed on schedule for areas of responsibility.
Participates in Process Improvement, systematic RCCA and other process optimization activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications / What you must have
BS in Chemistry, Materials Engineering or Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines considered based on experience).
10 plus years proven work experience working in, managing labs and lab operations in a R&D or production engineering environment.
Knowledge of FEA/CFD tools and techniques.
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Solid knowledge of Materials Science which includes Metallic, Non- Metallic, Chemicals, testing methods and material properties.
Nice to have (additional qualifications)
MS/PhD in above disciplines desired.
General knowledge of EPA/OSHA/SDS requirements.

Able to work overtime when required
Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position.
Limited travel maybe required including foreign travel in needed.
