The Oriental Medicine Massage Therapy Certificate Program prepares students for entry-level employment and professional licensure in massage therapy. The program combines classroom instruction, hands-on training, supervised clinical practice, and preparation for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).
Students study anatomy and physiology, pathology, kinesiology, Swedish massage, deep-tissue massage, Eastern bodywork, acupressure/Tuina, ethics, business practices, client assessment, documentation, sanitation, safety, contraindications, and professional standards. Students also gain practical experience performing massage services under supervision in a clinical setting.
AMOM provides bilingual academic assistance, flexible learning support, scholarships, MBLEx preparation, licensing guidance, career counseling, employment referrals, and graduate follow-up. The program serves a diverse population, including immigrants, English-language learners, low-income adults, career changers, and members of Asian, African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Middle Eastern communities.
Graduates are prepared to pursue Michigan massage therapist licensure and employment in massage clinics, spas, wellness centers, healthcare-related settings, chiropractic offices, fitness facilities, or independent practice.

Successfully complete the school’s English-language proficiency assessment.
Be physically capable of participating in the program’s classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.
