The practical nurse certificate program is designed to prepare students in the cognitive, psychomotor and behavior learning domains for a career as a practical nurse. Upon successful completion of the program, provided all requirements for graduation are met, the graduate will receive a certificate in practical nursing and be eligible to sit for the PN-NCLEX Exam.
Dorsey College utilizes a progressive admissions process for the practical nurse program. Prospective students must successfully complete each step in the process before moving on to the next step. All individuals interested in enrolling into the practical nurse program must: attend a PN info meeting, provide official documentation of achieving a minimum score of 42 on the ATI TEAS test, submit 500-word essay, provide 3 references, have a personal interview, meet with financial aid, meet with an admissions rep, sign a criminal background check authorization form (returned negative), submit to a drug screen (returned negative), documentation all health requirements have been met, have documentation of current AHA/BLS certification, have official proof of HS/GED graduation.
