The EMT-Basic program at Dorsey Emergency Medical Academy is designed to prepare students to provide basic life support (BLS) to sick and injured patients. EMT-Basic is the minimum level of licensure one must obtain in the State of Michigan to work on an ambulance. The EMT-Basic program at Dorsey Emergency Medical Academy exceeds the US-DOT’s EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum and is approved by the MDHHS.
1.Students must have attained the age of 17. *
2.Students must possess a valid driver’s license.
3.Students must possess a high school diploma or GED.
4.Students must meet the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification requirements as described below:•Criminal offenses – Applicant MUST submit official documentation that fully describes the offense, current status, and disposition of the case, if the applicant has ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor (other than a civil infraction).
•Had a healthcare license in any state or to an agency been subject to limitation, suspension, or termination of applicant’s right to practice in a healthcare occupation or the legal right to work.
•Voluntarily surrendered a healthcare license or the legal right to work.
