Union: The employee will work under the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union Local 5024-02.
Primary Function: Operates the slimes processing and production systems and control the EMEW tank house electrolyte circulation system.
Tools and Equipment: Slimes settling tank, storage tanks, leach vessels, centrifuges, pumps, screw conveyor, baghouse, weight scales, cranes, evaporator, crystalizer, condensate tank, filters, control panels, compressor, hand tools, shovels, brooms, pallet jack, water and air hoses, forklift, infra-red imager and arsine monitors; air pack breathing equipment, confined space air monitors.
Materials: Solutions, refinery slimes, reagents as specified, concentrated acid, avitone, copper, stainless steel blanks, liberator cathodes and other to be determined products.
Working Procedure:
Responsible for monitoring and control of the electrolyte circulation system. Makes chemical analyses and adjusts the appropriate system accordingly. Weighs, mixes and adds chemical reagents to the circulation system. Required to use confined space entry procedures for inspecting and cleaning various tanks.
Responsible for monitoring and control of the Digestive system making necessary analyses and adjustments as required for proper operation.
Responsible for monitoring and control of slimes processing facility including slimes settling, leaching, centrifuge, sample preparation, drying, packaging, weighing and shipping. Makes chemical analyses, makes chemical additions as required to produce a high quality, uniform product.
Makes out reports, lists or tally sheets and work orders as required.
Performs routine maintenance on all process equipment, such as cleaning plugged lines, valves, pumps, etc. and may be required to repair hoses and lines to ensure continuous operations.
Maintain strict housekeeping, works safely and efficiently and exercises good judgement.
Assisting in harvesting cathode and operation of EMEW process as required.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver license
Present a positive attitude with the ability to function as a team player.
Routinely handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds and on occasion may be expected to lift object weighing up to 50 pounds.
Snow removal, regular routine site maintenance as required and scheduled by supervisor.
Schedule will be an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, with overtime as required during initial training stage. Future schedules will be 12-hour day and night shift rotation, with overtime as required.
