Brief Statement of Duties: |
The person filling this position will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering Technology including but not limited to Fluid Mechanics, Material Science, Mechanical Design, Senior Projects, and Thermodynamics. These courses may be offered on campus or off campus by teaching off site or via the web. Additional duties would include but not limited to ABET accreditation support, committee assignments, and applied research or other scholarly activities. |

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: |
Doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field, or a combination of master’s degree and a valid Michigan Professional Engineer’s (PE) license |
Required Minimum Work Experience: |
Minimum Qualifications for Instructor: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor Doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field, or a combination of master’s degree and a valid Michigan Professional Engineer’s (PE) license.
Four years of industrial experience. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: |
• Ability to teach at the undergraduate level • Ability to work with others • Ability to incorporate application of laptop computers in the learning environment • Ability to participate in course development • Ability to participate in program assessment (ABET) • Ability to maintain professional involvement in the field |

• Higher-Ed teaching or industrial training experience • Greater than four years of industrial experience • Evidence of collegiality – ability to work with others in department, committees, etc. • Good communication skills • Organization and effectiveness of presentation |
