JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for shared wood procurement activities between LP Sagola and Newberry Mills splitting time equally between mills based on individual mill needs within the region. To manage all wood procurement activities ensuring long term supply to facilities while meeting company objectives for profitability. Provide advice and training to less experienced Resource personnel
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Budget and forecast costs and volumes of raw materials
- Hire, train, and manage performance of staff
- Negotiate and supervise various contracts including logging, road construction, and transportation
- Appraise and negotiate or bid private and government timber sale purchases
- Monitor and report accomplishments and compare to budgets/goals
- Ensure delivery of raw materials to mills meeting quality, quantity, and cost objectives
- Provide timely information and participation in Mill Business Team decisions
- Provide leadership to less experienced Resource Managers
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as necessary

- In-depth knowledge of general forestry principles and skills
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
- Good organization skills
- Knowledge of contracts and environmental regulations
- Basic computer skills
- Driver’s license required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 3 years supervisory experience
- 7 years forestry experience
- Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Outdoor environment subject to elements of nature
- Frequent travel required
