JOB TITLE: Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor
LOCATION: Greenville, Michigan
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for overseeing location-specific environmental compliance activities, including operation of wastewater treatment plant in accordance with company policies and procedures, while meeting all applicable regulatory requirements.

Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
Collaborating with management, production employees and others, to ensure compliance with related regulations, policies, procedures and processes.
Collecting, monitoring and recording all waste treatment flow data.
Performing daily process performance tests and log results.
Analyzing data and adjusting processes to optimize plant performance and maintain the system within regulatory and corporate parameters.
Monitoring and maintaining tank system, lift stations and associated processes.
Reporting excessive flow and loading data to plant management in a timely fashion.
Monitoring and sample potable water usage, flows and treatment levels in a manner that meets regulatory permit requirements and corporate policies.
Working with Maintenance department to maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program and maintain records of major repairs on equipment.
Sampling in accordance with the WPDES permit for the plant, and send to a certified lab for analysis.
Performing WDNR monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports and review Grade 4 Operator before submission.
Supervising land spreading activities by subcontracted hauler including performing quarterly audits and field inspections.
Submitting required forms (i.e. Land spreading and other methods of disposal) to DNR at the end of the year.
Preparing and submitting regulatory reports as needed. (i.e. Sara Tier II, Form R, and air permits)
Performing inspections and sampling tasks associated with the facility Storm-Water Pollution Prevention Plan, the Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure program, and Fuel Tank Inspection.
Coordinating the Recycling program, including monthly checklist for hazardous materials storage areas and shipping universal and hazardous waste as needed.
Responding to Treatment Plant upset and mechanical or operational malfunctions at all times of the day/night.
Responding appropriately to process equipment failures and divert flows to avoid permit violations.
Monitoring waste treatment cost and works with management to minimize operating expenditures.
Monitoring and maintain daily chemical inventories to insure uninterrupted plant operations.
Assisting with the development and training of relief operators and make corrective action and operational recommendations when system failures occur.
Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
Timely and accurate completion of duties.
Occasional travel for work, up to 33% of the time.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position, with some knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals, company policies and various documentation. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, patrons, haulers, state and federal agencies and others. Ability to effectively present information to employees and others.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to correctly compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrates good judgment in decision-making and problem solving.
Other Skills & Abilities: Must attend appropriate DNR training and obtain required certifications. Must have, or be able to obtain wastewater certifications: General Waste Treatment, Basic Activated Sludge, Phosphorus Removal, and Mechanical Sludge and Tertiary Filtration or the ability to obtain within a reasonable time. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain any certificates or licenses required by the work performed. Must be an active participant on Continuous Improvement of Processes and Cost Reduction Projects within the Lancaster plant.
