Department Summary
The Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Product line is a part of the Grid Management Product family, a subset of the IT Operations Portfolio. ADMS is state-of-the-art grid management solution to be implemented in 2022, replacing the current Outage Management System (OMS). The ADMS Product team will work under a DevOps Agile model to ensure electric operational teams at Consumers Energy, as well as customers, have access to outage information, maps, location information, and more.
Job Description/Responsibilities
As a member of the Grid Management team the person in this role is responsible for ADMS operations as well as techno-functional assignments to support delivery of best-in-class solutions in the Outage and Restoration Management space. This person is also expected to exercise leadership, knowledge, sound judgement and leveraging his/her functional and technical skills to enable the business to execute its strategy.
The ADMS Product Analyst is primarily responsible for coordinating ADMS IT Operations activities with internal IT resources and the performing vendor. This includes operational review cadence, provide 24x7 on-call, incident, problem and change management etc. He/She will also work on one or more initiatives as a product team member supporting software development, interfacing with the vendor team(s) and assist product managers when needed in transitional activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyze business problems, identify technology options, and define detailed specifications of technology solutions according to company standards and guidelines; develop technical specifications using functional and/or business requirements as a starting point
Perform technical analysis and refine system requirements and designs
Identify, develop, deploy, and provide post implementation support of application technologies to support the company's business requirements
Applies principles, methods, and procedures for designing, developing, optimizing, and integrating new and/or reusable systems components
Perform prototyping, design, development, testing, debugging, documentation and implementation of software applications in an agile environment
Design and develop efficient and effective applications through optimal use of reusable components
Assists in supporting and resolving issues the ADMS landscape
Provide 24x7 oncall support (on a 6-8 week rotation) to the mission critical ADMS system
Part of the Agile team, work on sprint scope items from the ADMS Product backlog
Supports ADMS product operations in meeting established service level agreements / metrics and conducting operational reviews
Analyze new and existing systems to ensure proper operation
Troubleshoots user and operations problems
Interface effectively with the end user community
Requirements/Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in an Information Technology field, and 2-4 years of applicable exempt working experience in an enterprise-size IT environment. Less than a bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by other technical training / relevant certifications and extensive experience (internal/external) in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
Possess analysis and problem-solving skills
Knowledge and experience in managing external service providers.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
Must be self-motivated, must have an ability to work well in a geographically dispersed, virtual team environment, and must exhibit a positive and professional attitude.
Must be able to work off-hours to provide 24x7 oncall support (on a 6-8 week rotation) to the mission critical systems.
Must be able to work independently, with an ability to interact and build consensus among IT portfolios in a demanding highly customer focused environment
Needs to be able to interpret / communicate problems in both technical and non-technical language to provide the appropriate levels of service to all areas
Able to influence, negotiate with and nurture relationships with key stakeholders
Strong attention to detail
Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently with minimal error
