Manager Foundry Engineering
Manage the Foundry Engineering function to ensure the proper design, casting, costing, and layout of foundry tooling through vendor selection, procurement and resolution of tooling related problems. Perform all tasks with safety and quality in mind and in accordance with established procedures and process instructions. Take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping at all times.
Extend treatment to all other employees of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers.
Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail.
Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of pattern and core box estimates for new or modified jobs.
Determine the best layout and design specifications of pattern and core box equipment to ensure optimal tooling design.
Assist customers with pattern and core box equipment and casting design to achieve maximum efficiency and quality at the lowest cost. Initiate alternatives in casting design to customers in order to improve tooling design.
Request bids from tooling equipment vendors for new tooling, re-rigging, engineering changes, and repairs. Select the best bid based on cost, quality, delivery, etc. and monitor the progress of work to completion.
Ensure that pattern and core box equipment produce quality castings. Work with other departments to solve tooling related problems.
Ensure tooling is reviewed for wear and repairs are made as required.
Direct, plan and coordinate the operation of the pattern shop, layout and highly machineable polyurethane (HMP) facility.
Ensure a competent staff is maintained to meet both short and long-term objectives. Provide for staff development and growth.
Prepare the department budget and administer and control the approved budget during the business year.
