Coherent is looking for a highly motivated Financial Analyst II to provide financial support to the Traverse City business group. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities. Main responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, cost accounting and SOX support as well as reporting and analysis for the business.
Duties and qualifications include the following:
Collaborate with cost center managers, functional leaders & Finance Business Partners in developing annual budgets / quarterly projections; including clear documentation of assumptions & posting in Oracle / Hyperion.
Record month-end journal entries (accruals, reclasses, charge in / outs, & prepaid amortization) for all cost centers supported; ensure accurate reporting of financial results in Oracle / Hyperion.
Collect and analyze key financial data to provide insights that influence strategic decisions for business partner and management.
Analyze financial variances for cost center actuals, projections, and budget.
Compile Month-End Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
Support audit requests from internal / external audit.
Ad-hoc analytical support for cost center managers on an as-needed basis.
Oversee all accounting operations, including standard cost changes, BOM costing updates, reconciling inventory to the GL, AP, AR, Fixed Asset tracking, and posting of payroll
Tracking and reporting of R & D Expenses by project
Education and Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in finance, business or analytics;
Systems skills and expertise in Excel with Oracle and Hyperion experience preferred;
Knowledge of PLEX preferred
Good team player who can handle tactical & strategic duties;
Comfortable engaging with BU Leadership including presentations;
BA/BS degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field.
