Job Description
Perform the basic progressive die change procedure for all presses, press operations, functions and settings; press ram adjustment, roll feed setting, progression setting, clamping dies in press, press guard adjustments, pilot release adjustment, etc.
Verify raw material to specifications and feed raw material through die.
Perform a visual check of first piece samples and analyze to determine if it will meet the minimal part requirements.
Make minor press adjustments within specifications that are necessary for the part to meet the minimal requirements.
Set up and operate all production equipment, take up and payoff set up and adjustments, use basic press room hand tools, and reading and interpreting blueprints.
Perform routine safety checks on presses/die changes.
Perform First Piece Inspection with precision checking tools such as but not limited to optical comparator, micrometers and digital calipers according to AQL.
Enter data into required computer programs.
Minimum Requirements
Must pass a skill evaluation with a 75% in all three 3 categories
6 months press operator experience or trainer and supervisor competency sign off
Requires inspection techniques: SPC and ability to work with and understand blueprints, use calipers and micrometers and related measurement equipment.
Must have working knowledge of computers - Windows based environment.
Experience with hand tools, equipment, and work aids commonly associated with this type of work
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Two years Press Operator experience preferred
Knowledge and experience on stamping presses and progressive dies
Basic computer skills and knowledge
Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
Knowledge of arithmetic is required
Basic skills in oral and written communication
Comply with all Environment, Health, and Safety {EH&S} rules and procedures.
Die Setup & Operator Evaluations
Die Setup and Operator trainee evaluation will be made on a weekly basis.
Training will follow the training plan.
There is a 180-day qualification period.
