Overview
Altarum is pleased to announce an opening for a Software Engineer to join our Interoperability Team. Software Engineers are responsible for supporting the design, development and implementation of health information technology solutions within the Division of Connected Health. Connected Health is committed to modernizing the Public Health IT Infrastructure and is looking for a full-stack developer to help pave the way. This person will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of developers, analysts and public health interoperability SMEs.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop modules for public health case management registries
- Design and develop FHIR-based solutions and tools to support system-to-system interoperability
- Participate in the full software development life cycle from requirements analysis through test, release and maintenance
- Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes using new technologies and tools
- Actively participate in HL7 Connectathons and other FHIR testing events
- Create architecture and process documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and complex problem resolution
Qualifications
- BS degree in computer science preferred
- 3+ years of experience working on Java/J2EE applications, strong knowledge of Object Orientated Programming, and experience with multiple databases
- Must have strong java fundamentals and experience with Spring or Spring Boot, Hibernate, FHIR JSON, FHIR XML, SMART-on-FHIR and FHIR OAuth 2.0 (including SMART App Launch and Bulk Data SMART Backend Services)
- Experience with Microservice designs and architectures, Service-oriented architecture (SOA), formal patterns, etc.
- Technical development experience with REST/SOAP web services
- Basic knowledge of how modern JavaScript frameworks like VUE, React and Angular2 communicate with the back-end server
- Experience using cloud-based servers like AWS.
- Experience with modern SDLC tools - Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift, Gradle
- Prefer experience processing Medical Document formats like HL7 V2 and CCDA
- Mobile development experience is a plus
- Enjoy working with a dynamic team, flexible and possess a good foundation of software development skills
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a quick learner. You should have a broad base of software development experience, and be interested in continuing to grow technically via hands on experience and learning
