Essential Function of the Job
Performs entry level clerical support activities that help sustain comprehensive community services which assists in alleviating the local causes of poverty, and its effects. This position is the first point of contact for those seeking basic needs assistance and is an essential part of helping callers/visitors identify community resources.
Examples of Work

- Operates telephone to relay calls or messages.
- Greets visitors, answers questions and determine nature of business.
- Schedules appointments with staff for clients by mail, in person, or telephone.
- Collects and inputs confidential information from client into appropriate data system.
- Collects, sorts, and distributes mail.
- Files documents and other records by appropriate ordering system.
- Performs routine data quality review to assure accuracy of recorded data.
- Makes type written documents, using computer with word processing software.
- Maintains office in clean and neat condition.
- Other related general support duties as assigned.
Requirements of Work
- Ability to deal pleasantly and professionally with the public.
- Knowledge of Data Processing and the ability to type and input data into the computer.
- Knowledge of local community resources.
- A satisfactory review of Criminal History background check.
- A valid Michigan driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Those who are granted an exemption for one of the reasons listed above are required to undergo weekly testing for current SARS COV-2 infection.
Aside from those who are granted exemptions for one of the reasons above, there is no testing option as an alternative to the vaccine requirement.
Desirable Minimum Training and Experience
- Training in office skills and experience in an office.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
