Positions Location: Carson City, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Plans, organizes and supervises the operations and activities of the Engineering Department to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient facility for patients, visitors, and staff. Works with the SHS Director of Facilities and SCH Administration to insure appropriate lease arrangements and compliance for SCH property. Supervises special projects and coordinates skilled trade maintenance activity as necessary/assigned.
Essential Duties:

- Develops and oversees daily individual and group work plans; coordinates service requests and ensures work is completed.
- Lead and motivate Engineering Caregivers to achieve maximum performance, performs annual performance evaluations.
- Responsible for hiring, training, disciplining and terminating staff, as necessary.
- Manages Energy Usage
- Oversees daily operation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Manages computerized energy management system and computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Works with Director and SCH VP to develop annual budgets (operational and capital); Responsible for adherence to approved budget.
- Implements approved projects, measures outcomes, and reports outcomes to Director and SCH Administration. Identify, assist with, and support Operations Staff in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
- Leads, facilitates, and/or participates in project meetings, planning meetings, execution and control meetings or other centralized project meetings as needed or assigned.
- Directly oversees contractors associated with facility grounds and maintenance.
- Lead role in ensuring compliance with regulatory inspections and codes, including but not limited to State Fire Marshal, City Fire Marshal, MDCIS, JCAHO, and other regulatory authorities.
- Initiates and completes administrative documentation, such as purchase orders, invoicing, warranties, and preventive maintenance records.
- Responsible for the plant operations aspects for all St. Johns Professional Associates (SJPA) physician office leases and off-site rental properties.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and efficient physical environment.
- Plans space utilization, facility improvements, utilities management, waste management, preventive maintenance, and facility repairs.
- Provides for effective, efficient and productive management of facilities.
- Reviews, approves and initiates departmental policies.

Work Experience |
• Minimum of four years’ experience in building, facilities, plant operations, engineering, or related field. • Specialized training or equivalent experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, boiler grounds, and physical facility maintenance and repair to replace maintenance mechanic when necessary. • Proven experience with HVAC systems and computerized energy management systems. • Preferred - Plant Operations in a hospital setting |
Education |
• High school diploma or equivalent • Preferred - Bachelor's degree |
