As an integral member of the team, you'll collaborate with colleagues to tell compelling stories that showcase the strength and resilience of our patients and the heart of Mary Free Bed staff members who serve them. We also need distinctive informational pieces for patients and clinicians that spotlight the comprehensive range of services we provide.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Create material for multiple mediums: print, video and digital
Maintain Mary Free Bed brand, voice and tone
Identify patient and staff stories and creatively tell them
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure projects are completed in a timely and innovative manner, and reflect Mary Free Bed branding standards
Craft conversational and engaging social media posts with digital specialist
Work with videographers to develop enticing written video introductions
Assist media specialist with news releases
Work with various Mary Free Bed staff members on requested projects
Responsible for editing marketing and communication materials
Ensure Associated Press style in formal communication and printed pieces
Maintain Mary Free Bed brand, voice and tone
Support special events and projects
Other duties as assigned
Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
Bachelor's degree in writing, communications, marketing, public relations or related field
Minimum three to five years of professional experience in communication, journalism, marketing, advertising or related field
Proven ability to write for specific audiences and achieve targeted goals
Seasoned experience using and maintaining branded voice and tone
Superior conversational writing skills
Demonstrated writing ability for multiple mediums
Skills to understand complex and technical information and communicate salient points in a concise and creative manner for the lay public
Ability to write technical/medical information for professionals
Skillful and natural interviewer
Proficient knowledge of AP style
Critical thinker with experience developing unique marketing solutions
Proven record of working independently and with a team
Sense of urgency and flexibility to quickly adapt to changing priorities
High energy and strong work ethic
Positive attitude
Lively sense of humor
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
Physical Demands:
Able to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time)
Able to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 35 pounds occasionally
Able to sit for the majority (1/3 - 2/3) of the time interspersed with periods of walking or standing
Able to use keyboard frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)
Other Preferred Job Qualifications
Former experience in news media (especially broadcast journalism) or advertising a plus
Knowledge of page layout, graphic design and photography
Basic understanding of desktop and electronic publishing software
Previous health care communication experience
