Join a team-31,000 strong-that actively cares for each other and is committed to improving health and inspiring hope.
Why join Spectrum Health?
As part of the 4 South Neurology Medical Surgical Nursing Unit, your career options at Spectrum Health are endless. We have the partnerships. We have the resources. And, we have the commitment to cultivate and invest in our people.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. 4 South is one of the largest medical/surgical units in Butterworth Hospital, staffing 38 beds. 4 South nurses are highly regarded for their team orientation, advanced technical skills, strong perception and compassionate care.
Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex: we care for spine surgery patients, patients who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal, or debulking, and elective aneurysm interventions. Our general neurology patients include those who have experienced acute stroke, seizure, chronic headaches and general neurological disorders including Guillan-Barre Syndrome, multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis exacerbations. Being a med/surg unit, we provide quality care for many general medicine patients: pneumonia, cellulitis, GI bleeds, alcohol withdrawal and patients who have experienced drug overdose are just a few examples.
The professional growth and development opportunities truly prepare a nurse for the next step in their career. We provide neuro-specific training through classes, online learning modules, and 1-on-1 instruction on the unit with your preceptor. First year RNs can participate in our nurse residency program and unit-based SHARE sessions. These are specifically designed to support new graduates during their first year on the job as they transition to professional practice.
Safety
Just as you are keeping our team and patients safe through the pandemic, we will make sure to keep you safe too. We provide Personal Protective Equipment for each team member and conduct screening surveys before each shift.
Benefits
We offer all the benefits you'd expect from a leading employer (401K, Insurance, time off, etc.) plus career advancement, training and many other benefits.
