The Opportunity
Catherine’s is actively seeking a Front Office Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for
patients at our Creston location. Catherine’s mission of providing high quality, affordable and compassionate
health care starts the moment that a patient walks in the door or picks up the phone. The receptionist will
have the opportunity to work with the amazing front office team to ensure that all members of the
community needing health care can meet with a provider as soon as necessary.
Job Summary
The Front Office Receptionist will work with a lively team to ensure an efficient and positive experience for
patients. Responsibilities will include greeting patients, patient registration, answering phones, scheduling
appointments, patient check out, insurance verification and records processing. The front office team
upholds Catherine’s values by building relationships based on integrity and honesty, serving the community
with a commitment to excellence, treating patients and visitors with respect and dignity, and enhancing
professional skills to foster stewardship.
Primary Location: Catherine’s Health Center Creston (1211 Lafayette Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI) and
Catherine’s Health Center at Streams of Hope (280 60th St SE #200, Grand Rapids, MI) - open to discussion
Position Supervisor : Practice Manager
Pay: From $14/hour
Description of Duties/Responsibilities
? Greet and direct patients in a friendly and respectful manner
? Register new patients, access patient files, and schedule appointments with several providers
? Answer and transfer phones on a multi-line phone system
? Contact patients via phone and make follow-up calls as necessary
? Process patient check-ins and check-outs
? Verify insurance and other patient information
? Handle patient information with confidentiality
Minimum Position Qualifications
? 1 year experience in medical office (required)

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements
? Commitment to Catherine’s mission of providing access to high quality, affordable, and
compassionate healthcare
? Patient-Centered/Customer Focused
? Excellent verbal and written communication
? Proficiency with standard desktop computer system, multi-line phones, and keyboard entry
? Experience with electronic health record (such as Athena or EPIC)
? Ability to multi-task in a setting with frequent interruptions
? Must have good knowledge and understanding of insurance verification
? Must be able to communicate with patients and insurance companies
? Ability to problem-solve, take direction, and work with a team
? Available Monday through Friday 40 hours per week. Some early morning and/or evening
availability.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs
? Good organizational skills
