Job Description
Job Summary
Supervises the work in the pre- and/or post-analytical laboratory areas to ensure that services fulfill the needs of hospital units and Outpatient service areas served.
Essential Functions
Practices and models exceptional communication methods to keep staff up to date on policy and procedure changes. Acts as a liaison between management and support staff.
Plans the work of phlebotomy/lab processing service areas to ensure that services fulfill the needs of hospital units/Outpatient services served. Formulates, modifies, and implements new phlebotomy procedures and policies.
Investigates problems regarding specimen handling, personnel, and pre- and post-analytical processes. Manages resolution of those problems
Inspects operations on a routine basis and corrects any deficiencies that are found.
Supervises the activities of staff who are engaged in providing laboratory support services. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, pay roll and training employees; planning and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
2 years of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 2+ years of related experience Required
2 years of relevant experience supervisory in a hospital laboratory Required
as a Medical Technologist Preferred
CRT-Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology
