Position Snapshot
The EHS and Compliance Specialis t is responsible for implementation of US Ecology's Health and Safety programs within your assigned region. You will provide technical support and independent oversight of health and safety compliance activities for our hazardous waste management facilities and service locations.
Day in the Life
After grabbing your favorite morning beverage, you can expect to:
Head to your office, start up your computer, and review the day's schedule
Travel between our Taylor MI and Findlay, OH sites to provide Transportation Compliance and Environmental, Health and Safety support to members in the field
Visit customer sites to do "pre-job walks", providing valuable input into job planning and development
Ensure any required permits (i.e. Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, etc .) are properly completed. If not, assist the team with properly completing the required paperwork before allowing the job to continue.

Investigate incidents and accidents and prepare written and/or electronic reports, make recommendations for corrective actions, participate in Incident Review Teams ( IRT ) meetings.
Conduct in the field audits to ensure both customer and company procedures and safe practices are being followed.
Identify hazards and formulate solutions with the team
Provide sound recommendations to keep our site and teams safe
Work on training items for the site (you'll be our resident expert!).
Plan, organize and/or lead training sessions, "tailgate talks" and "safety stand-downs," and other informal jobsite trainings
What you need to apply
An equivalent combination of education and experience. (college or job related experience in the field preferred, i.e. Environmental, Health and/or Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Transportation Safety.
Moderate computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office Suite)
2-3 years of related experience required
Willing to wear a respirator (clean shaven) and/or PPE as needed (some customers will require this to be onsite.
