Eaton's Vehicle Sector is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer; Connector Innovation to join our team. This position can be based at our Southfield, MI, Galesburg, MI or Marshall, MI facilities. Remote home office will also be considered.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will join the New Spaces team and develop products that will be the future of Eaton. You will be a member of a high-performance team faced with new challenges every day. As a member of this team, you will support the technical development of vehicle grade connection systems. In this function you will:
Lead technical development of parts/products; co-ordinate with technical lead to develop/refine/test project strategy
Prepare design concepts, detailed drawings, product specifications; support from conception to production
Exposure to manufacturing processes - injection molding, stamping, plating, die-casting, ultrasonic welding, and component assembly - is preferred
Additional know-how on signal integrity & protection methods is preferred (EMC/EMI)
Assist/verify/train other engineers on application APQP documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, QFD, etc.)
Wide decision-making scope; transformative impact on wider organization
Mange, plan, and execute work schedule with Agile toolset
Run prototype/product validation and verification
Communication and cooperation with other Eaton functional areas and regions

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum of 3 years of automotive/commercial vehicle electrical connector design
Ability to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without sponsorship now or in the future
No Relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Candidate must be located within a 50-mile radius of Southfield, Galesburg, Marshall MI. Candidates outside the 50-mile radius will not be considered for this role. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred qualifications:
Mechatronics and electronics knowledge
Experience with Creo preferred for CAD Modeling
Experience with Commercial Vehicle and Off-Highway components is a plus
Position Criteria:
Ability to understand application specific connector and contact requirements (electrical, environmental, mechanical, etc.)
Knowledge of CAD Modeling (2D/3D)
GD&T application and good interpretation of engineering drawings
Capability to learn and adapt quickly
Strong technical knowledge in the area of electrical interconnect systems / connectors

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $98,400 - $135,300 per year.
