Responsible for development and delivery of product design datasets (2D/3D) from concept to production and leading the development of design solutions. Support projects from Program Award through Start of Production.
Manage design files, design studies, component & assembly drawings in file library system. Capable of sending files via variety of transfer methods and formats (ex. TeamCenter).
Apply knowledge of plastic part design, injection-molding into design concepts and develop "smart" parameterized 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in appropriate CAD environment
On time release of drawings and CAD data to meet tooling kick-off dates.
Component and system designs that meet customer performance and client manufacturing requirements.
Ongoing assessments of design to ensure that manufacturing and performance risks are addressed.
Identification and resolution of design related issues during development and launch. Manage day-to-day project details. Includes creating and updating CAD model and drawing schedules (timelines), identifying project tasks, and managing those tasks to successful and timely completion. Take ownership for assigned deliverables.
Design product to cost targets (cost awareness)
Root-cause and identify short and long-term countermeasures for resolution of design, engineering or manufacturing feasibility issues.
Apply working knowledge of basic Lean engineering principals and problem-solving tools including benchmarking & reverse engineering, DFMEA, 8D's, tactical planning, Kepner-Tregoe Problem Resolution, 5-Why process, etc
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Typically, 5+ years of experience
