Supervisor-Finance and Accounting Location: Southfield, MI Duration: Fulltime Description: - 2 direct reports - Must have an Accounting degree - CPA preferred Job Posting: Responsible for supervising Finance and Accounting staff to ensure that all assigned projects, goals and objectives are accomplished, particularly financial reporting deadlines, and ensure completeness and accuracy of assigned projects, including internal and external reporting (including audited financial statements). Must be able to lead cross-functional teams and have strong critical thinking and analytic skills with attention to detail. Responsible for supervising Finance and Accounting staff to ensure that all assigned projects, goals and objectives are accomplished, particularly financial reporting deadlines, in accordance with established corporate and departmental policies and procedures. - Review and approve the work performed by direct reports (for example financial analysts) including financial reports or regulatory filings, including oversight of the documentation process and communicating results to leadership. - Plan, prioritize and assign work to staff and supervise to assure accountability, conduct performance evaluations, counsel, coach and initiate corrective action to resolve problems as well as develop staff. - Develop and maintain effective communication and well-functioning relationships with various internal and external entities, implement plans related to business changes, ensure compliance with regulations (for example National Health Care Reform, CMS, GAAP, statutory, tax, etc.) and resolve inquiries and issues. - Oversee and coordinate processes to develop and maintain subject matter expertise for assigned responsibilities by regularly reviewing accounting and regulatory guidance for changes related to the healthcare industry; may include coordinating workgroup participation and communicating the availability of webinars, industry literature and department training. - Review and approve financial transactions including journal entries, payments and provide related support. - Demonstrate strong knowledge of client corporate and department policies, practices and procedures; provide guidance and direction to staff in their administration. - Document and communicate recommendations resulting from financial analyses, modeling or research of accounting issues and relevant guidance such as CMS, GAAP, statutory, tax and other regulations. - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major). Master's Degree in related field or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. - Five (5) years professional finance or accounting experience including preparation of tax or financial statements and research of accounting pronouncement. - Two years managed care experience preferred. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate financial information and interface with various levels of leadership internally or external contacts. - Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP. - Analytical, organizational and problem resolution skills ability to engage in multiple simultaneous priorities and meet deadlines. - Demonstrated project coordination experience and ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Intermediate knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). - Demonstrated knowledge and experience with financial auditing and Model Audit Rule regulations preferred. - Database experience including Access and/or relational database tools preferred. - Demonstrated knowledge of health care industry and managed care preferred. - Knowledge of Facets preferred. - Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
