Position Summary
Dr. Min-Hao Kuo, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Michigan State University, seeks a research associate to work on his project that focuses on Alzheimer''s disease drug discovery using aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau as the target. The overall research involves hyperphosphorylated tau protein preparation, in vitro drug screen and verification, using both biochemical and cell-based means. Required expertise include recombinant protein expression and purification, high-throughput screen assay establishment and execution, as well as subsequent secondary and orthogonal assays for verification. In addition, ability to perform mammalian tissue culture and cellular viability tests are expected. Excellent English writing and communication skills are required.
Description of duties:
Independent planning, execution, and interpretation of experiments; regular communication with the PI; collaborating with other members in the lab on this project; mentoring graduate and undergraduate trainees; writing manuscripts for research products.

Required Degree
Doctorate- Biochemistry or related
Minimum Requirements
PhD with extensive experiences in (1) quantitative examination of protein amyloidogenesis and fibrillogenesis, (2) recombinant protein expression and purification, (3) molecular cloning, (4) kinetic and statistical analysis of protein folding, and (5) high-throughput screening for drug discovery.
Desired Qualifications
Excellent communication (oral and writing) skills in English.
