Job Summary
The AECOM ITS/Traffic Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Senior ITS/Traffic Systems Engineer for employment in the Southfield, MI office.
As a Senior ITS/Traffic Systems Engineer in the ITS/Traffic Department you will manage or assist ITS/Traffic projects with a variety of work designing, specifying, and supporting traffic signal system and ITS devices, communication networks, and operations centers. You'll have the opportunity to work on a mixture of ITS project including planning, architecture, design, communications networks, operations, data analysis, and maintenance. Many of these will be cutting edge projects that implement the latest technologies for improving surface street transportation. This position will work primarily from a local client site while also being afforded the opportunity to periodically support other projects. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead/manage/assist in the design of ITS projects for various clients, following each agency's standards and plan development processes.
Plan and design traffic signals, communication networks, physical infrastructure, logical operations, and light-duty data center facilities.
Assess performance of traffic signal and communications equipment (including switches and routers, CCTV, traffic detection units, and various other transportation management equipment) and prepare reports.
Maintain APN/AVPN networks.
Coordinate efforts to update and/or replace Digi WR21 and WR54 Cellular Modem/Routers in traffic cabinets.
Modify the configurations in the Digi and Cisco equipment if needed or as required.
Develop procedures and configurations for installation of CCTV cameras from WTI Technologies and CohuHD to be used across AVPN Cell network.
Implement multiple video streams from CCTV to Proxy Servers.
Maintain Proxy Servers and Video Wall configurations for existing CCTV as well as any new additions.
Work with Skyline Technologies to maintain Proxy Server and Claris Portal for shared video feeds to approved community resources
Develop procedures and configurations for installation of Traffic Detection cameras and their live video feeds back to the TOC for Traffic Engineer studies.
Work with TOC team to implement new detection systems (Grid Smart, Econolite, Iteris, Bosch etc.).
Work with Traffic Engineers to ensure proper traffic flow with the adaptive traffic management platforms.
Monitor existing APC UPS with load changes.
Develop testing and acceptance procedures with customer for remote and head-end system acceptances.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
5+ years system engineering experience
Must possess a valid driver's license
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail
Transportation Operations Center experience
Computer proficiency: Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access)
Education and/or experience with Ethernet networking, IP addressing, subnetting, and routing
Demonstrated ability to efficiently produce technical reports, documents, client communication, and technical memoranda
Ability to maintain a high level of self-motivation and resourcefulness
Ability to adhere to a variety of project specific operational policies and protocols
Experience with CENTRACS Traffic Management Platform
