SUMMARY
The position of EMS Lead Instructor is intended to involve the individual in a variety of levels of EMS Education for EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, Community Paramedic, and I/C. This position may include lead instructor and lead lab instructor. This position reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator EMS Education (EMS Education Program Director).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Current State of Michigan EMS-I/C licensure for EMT; EMS-I/C licensure for Paramedic preferred.
Bachelor's degree OR Assoc. Degree and 4 years' experience, and BLS Instructor certification required OR High School Diploma/GED Equivalent and 6 years' EMS experience.
Demonstrated experience in instruction and have knowledge in methods of instruction testing, and evaluation of adult students.
Demonstrated ability to design, present, and evaluate educational programs for adults required.
Have knowledge of the current versions of the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced informed clinical practice.
Work experience demonstrating progressive responsibility, professional growth in emergency medical services, be organized in daily work, be a self-starter, have an ability to meet timely deadlines, and demonstrate a positive work attitude.
ORGANIZATION
Interacts with and maintains excellent working relationships with employees of MREMSE, EMS students, physicians and physician assistants within the Emergency Services service line, area EMS agencies and providers, and members of the public. Roles in education include teaching, oversight and evaluations (student, instructor, program, and employer).
Must have excellent communication skills with staff and co-workers.
Reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator EMS Education (EMS Education Program Director).

Provides Program Director with regular feedback related to quality improvement activities.
Works with instructors and will ensure that a licensed I/C will be present at all classes, except for state approved exceptions.
Serves as an advocate for EMS providers and EMS systems operations within the region.
Maintains familiarity with state and local activities related to EMS.
Skills in the use of computers for general office activities, word-processing, data management and spread-sheet activities. Has functional familiarity with e-mail systems and the internet.
Maintains EMS clinical proficiency through field activities/hospital clinical time/clinical educational activities on a regular basis.
Assists with coordination of clinical rotations for EMS education programs.
Provide the Program Director with student outcomes of each course, including student evaluations, attrition rate, number of students successfully completing the course and pass rates.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
