What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships help to develop, grow, and retain a skilled workforce in technical areas to produce qualified, highly-productive employees for careers requiring precision skills. ArtiFlex Manufacturing Apprenticeship’s are United States Department of Labor and employer sponsored, hands-on training programs targeted to develop and advance your career in manufacturing. Through combined on-the-job training plus education, you’ll gain both practical experience and education to become a Tool & Die Maker.
As a Tool and Die Apprentice you will learn to analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
Common GRCC Courses: Technical Math, TIG Welding, Industrial Graphics with CAD, NX, Die Design, Gauges for Measurement, GD&T, Industrial Physics, Industrial Safety, Manufacturing Principles, Metallurgy, Statistical Process Control, and Supervision.
Hands on Training: Bandsaw, Lathe, Computer Education, Finish Detail, Drill Press, Surface Grinder, Milling Machine, Bench, Layout and Assembly, Heat Treating, Welding, and Tryout.

Competencies:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 18 years of age
- Punctual, reliable, and safety conscious
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Ability to serve, prioritize, and multi-task to support multiple areas
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.
