Dematic Corporation is now hiring for a Regional Field Service and Remote Technical Support Technician. Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, this position provides service, repair, and occasional training for the installed Dematic systems. As the Dematic representative, this position is responsible for maintaining customer goodwill towards Dematic. Primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for Customer use and to ensure that Customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment.
Qualifications:
• Trade school graduate or two year Associates degree in a mechanical and electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
• Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical equipment
• Successful candidate must have working experience with material handling equipment. Both controls and hands on mechanical
• Must be willing to interface onsite with customers as well as internal office needs
• Must be willing to travel on short notice
• Must be willing to be available after hours and travel accordingly
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays and off shifts
• Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations
• Must be able to write clear and concise field reports and submit timely
• Must have knowledge in the use of computers for word processing, data base functions and communications. Understanding computer hardware setup and software configuration required
• Working experience with troubleshooting PLC's and Networks required
• Ability to lead and oversee the work of others
• Assisting project and technical engineers in integration of new systems.
• Working on site to install, commission, and test installation of material handling solutions.
• Providing specified technical support to customers on-site, when assigned
• Strong problem solving skills
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime is to be expected
• Willingness to work from high heights and work using lifts
• The ability to troubleshoot server hardware, Ethernet networks and other peripherals
• Strong electrical skills including wiring, AC Power & power distribution, AC Motors, electrical drawing & schematics and control panels
Job Family Responsibilities:
Participates in equipment trial runs, investigative tests, and repairs. Participates in training customers on products and services. Performs maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documentation of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work. Participates in responding to service calls. Participates in the assessment of product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements
Key Responsibilities:
Performs complex work within technical or paraprofessional area. Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem may be difficult or complex. Escalates and engages others when needed
Education:
Typically an Associate's degree or 2-5 years of vocational technical training preferred. HS diploma or equivalent required. Specialized skill training/certification may be require
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates comprehensive working knowledge of a technical or specialty area, and of operations, methods, and practices. Generally, 2-5 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above
