What You Will Do

Position Highlights:
ECMO/LVAD Expereince
APP (Nurse Practitioner)
Responsabilities:
In collaboration with a physician, provide for expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.
Oversees the development, growth and operations of the ECMO program.
Ensures compliance with ELSO guidelines and regulatory/accreditation body standards.
Supports the coordination of patient care.
Ensures ongoing staff competence with program related training and proficiencies.
Functions as a competent member of the advanced heart failure team with a focus on mechanical circulatory support.
Serves as a resource to staff for ECMO. Must be willing to come in during all shifts as needed to provide ECMO guidance.
Supervises the training of technical staff in ECMO use to include didactic lectures, laboratory training with the ECMO equipment, bedside training and a defined system for testing proficiency of the team members.
Maintains a well-defined program of routine continuing education and emergency training for ECMO staff. Supervises maintenance of equipment.
Collects patient data required for ELSO accreditation.
Leads the multi-disciplinary ECMO team which includes, but is not limited to, selection criteria, patient follow-up, and program evaluation.
Maintains current policies and procedures outlining the indications and contraindications for ECMO, clinical management of the ECMO patient, maintenance of equipment, termination of ECMO therapy and follow-up of the ECMO patient.
Maintains clinical skills by working in the clinical setting on an ongoing basis.
Fulfills required annual clinical and/or hospital related competencies.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Education:
- Master's degree of Nursing required.
