Description
The Associate Actuary analyzes and forecasts financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. Establishes unit cost metrics, provides competitive data and pricing evaluations, works directly to support our network contracting, market development, and employer group pricing and trend teams. The Associate Actuary, work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Associate Actuary ensures data integrity by developing and executing necessary processes and controls around the flow of data. Collaborates and communicates with small and large groups of stakeholders which will include network and corporate senior level leadership. Begins to influence department's strategy. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. The expectation of the Associate Actuary is to work on individual projects as well as in a dynamic and flexible team environment with minimal oversight.
In addition, the Associate Actuary will:
Bring together different data points to push forward network strategy initiatives and offer insights
Initiatives include:
Reviewing provider transparency files
Assessing coordination of benefits claims
Help project and track current and future contract unit cost increase and decrease targets
Quantifying pricing factors
Be exposed to network and market development leadership for both Medicare and Commercial business segments
Assess opportunities to build out additional tools and reporting capabilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
ASA or FSA designation
Meets eligibility requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
MAAA
Experience presenting to members of leadership
Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic conversation to multiple leadership groups
Experience utilizing Excel at an advanced level
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of network contracting
Experience with SQL and/or SAS
Experience with health care claims and claims payment systems
