HOURS/PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal position.
Memorial Day through Labor Day – 7-Day Operation. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Time off during this period is extremely limited.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is public safety work safeguarding swimmers at the swimming pool at Camp Dearborn. The employee is responsible for guarding an assigned section of a swimming pool or pool area, enforcing pool regulations, administering first aid and CPR as necessary, and filling out incident/accident and other types of reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Functions essential to attaining job objectives.)
- Safeguards and monitors an assigned section of a swimming pool or pool area.
- Performs lifeguarding duties as assigned including performing water rescue techniques and administering CPR and first aid.
- Attends all training sessions, in-service training, and staff meetings.
- Keeps accurate records, makes reports, and completes accident reports.
- Assists with general maintenance and cleanliness of pool and surrounding area, including bathhouses.
- Works in cooperation with Head Lifeguard and Camp management.
- Displays mature approach to patrons and co-workers.
- Swims 500 yards at least once a week.
- Wears required uniform.
- Cleans and disinfects pool area which includes; Comfort Station #3, Restrooms, Pool Deck, & Laundry Facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
