Functions include planning, organizing, and directing the work of each Section. The EMS Section directs the designation, development, oversight, and enforcement of program content, policies and procedures related to medical control; EMS life support agency, vehicle and personnel licensure; development and maintenance of education program standards; development and maintenance of examination standards; and development and maintenance of the EMS communication system; and EMS information system. The Trauma Section provides for the planning, organization and directing of the development and implementation of a trauma system. This includes the verification and designation of facilities; the development of a trauma registry; the development of a regional structure for the implementation of triage and destination protocols. Provides administrative direction for program planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation of the programs. Directs development, and administration of federal grant applications and awards. Directs the development and implementation of a strategically aligned regional system of medical control. Provides strategic leadership for advancement of the all-inclusive EMS system that integrates regulatory activities, education, clinical components, programmatic advancements, grant management, communications, performance improvement, injury prevention and regional systems of care for time sensitive emergencies such as trauma, stroke and STEMI. Provides interpretation of existing statute and rules, as well as revisions to and development of new administrative rules and policies. Leads collaborative efforts with system stakeholders, and areas of State government both within and outside of MDHHS. Alternate Education and Experience Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements Additional Requirements and Information Position Location/Remote Office: This position may work remotely or work hybrid (remote/office). The office is located at 1001 Terminal Road, Lansing MI. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications.
