Jacobs is the world's top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers . Customers include not only the world's major vehicle providers and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), but also clients from the international motor sports community.
Our experience encompasses virtually every type of automotive test facility, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels; aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels; emissions test rooms; soak rooms; altitude chambers; engine and powertrain test cells; and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and build these facility systems assets but also operate, maintain, and manage these facilities.
This position is full-time. This is NOT a contract position. You will be eligible for our generous benefit package, including health insurance, dental, vision, generous PTO, paid holidays, 401K, stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These functions are regularly performed test related activities that form the core of the responsibilities of this position:
Test engineer for a Wind Tunnel test facility including setting up tests, conducting tests, and reviewing data
Ability to read and interpret P&ID and PFD's
Develop interfaces to test facility equipment using hardware interfaces and industrial networks
Design and implement a automation strategy for existing data acquisition and control systems
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and departments to ensure success
Provide engineering support, problem resolution, and recommendations to the Wind Tunnels
Interface with internal and external customers on facility and test improvements
Review and analyze test data to ensure high quality test data is collected and delivered to customers, make changes as needed to maintain high quality testing
Provide direction to test technicians supporting testing in wind tunnels
Provide initial diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, for electrical and control systems
Provide support for project engineering teams for test facility and instrumentation upgrades
Evaluate existing test systems, methods, data acquisition, etc. and recommend improvements
Research, recommend, design, and implement state of the art technologies for wind tunnels, test fixtures, test methods, data acquisition, and instrumentation

Here's What You'll Need:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited school required
Three to five years of related experience OR a MS degree in electrical engineering
Familiar with PLC hardware and software
Proficient in MS Office Products
Analytical skills to identify, diagnose and resolve issues
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Goal oriented self-starter with excellent teamwork skills
Desired:
Familiar with data acquisition systems, PLC control systems (Siemens and Allen Bradley), and various instrumentation technologies, experience with wireless data transfer and instrumentation is preferred
SCADA and HMI experience
Knowledge of vehicle wind tunnel testing, controls, and design of experiments is a plus
