JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
· Be Licensed by State of Michigan LARA- Nursing Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
NOTE: N.A.P.N.E.S. certification preferred
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs,) at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, are responsible for providing medical and psychiatric nursing care to the youth/resident population. Assigned functions consist of but not limited to rendering first aid, performing cardiopulmonay resuscitation as needed; administering medication (oral/injectables) while monitoring and reporting adverse reactions is another important aspect of care delivery. Also, LPNs must demonstrate proficiency in practical youth care, such as taking/recording vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate), and phelbotomy. Although, LPNs primary function is to administer medications, LPNs assist with ADL's i.e. bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, ambulation, and feeding if nesscary. While receiving directions from nursing administration, LPNs are expected to perform procedures only as outlined within their scope of practice, adherence to nursing code of ethics, Nurse Practice Act, Civil Service Rules, and Wayne County policy and procedures is expected.
Part-time positions (No Benefits) are available at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Positions are for a five (5) day schedule and may include any 5-day period between Monday through Sunday, including holidays.
