Position Summary: This position will be responsible for driving quality systems with a focus on defect prevention on a systemic level. Key area of focus is on corrective actions in the manufacturing processes. This position will report directly to Quality Manager
Role Expectations:
This position will support ZF Quality department to lead, assist, and support corrective action problem solving and implementation related to customer concerns with a focus on quality systems being the driver for systemic corrective actions. This position will also seek out and solve manufacturing problems, particularly related to quality, and potential customer quality concerns. These expectations are derived from customer concerns, internal concerns, and supplier concerns; scrap reports, production reports and warranty analysis. The role will also be training and mentoring role to problem solving teams, to use various problem-solving tools such as 8D, Red X, 6 Sigma, Triz, Root Cause analysis, etc.
Position Responsibilities:
Mentor problem solving teams and activities from customer complaints, internal concerns and warranty analysis.
Perform internal quality investigations on axle drive assembly lines.
Plan, Test and Supervise the Implementation of Preventive Quality Assurance in the axle drive assembly lines in order to establish and verify capable and stable production processes.
Perform Internal Process Audits in axle drive assembly lines or as required to coordinate product audits in assembly lines.
May interact with senior engineers on complex problems that are not typically covered within the plant.
Manage 8D investigations or similar Corrective Action Process derived from Product- and Process Audits, and from internal quality investigations.
High degree of focus on defect prevention in the manufacturing processes.
Investigate and resolve issues associated with non-conforming parts.
Evaluate quality documentation and data received from axle drive assembly lines.
Participate in the approval Tolerance changes on Assembly Stations in cooperation with Engineering & Systems support where applicable.
Review and participate in disposition of quarantined material, scrap and manufacturing process for quality issues.
Work with PQE, Product Engineering, SQA and Manufacturing Engineering to solve, and implement corrective actions.
Participate and recommends in the development and approval of control plans.
Review suppliers' corrective actions as necessary or directed by quality management.
Use SAP and other tools to track and report corrective actions and cost.
Utilize customer portals to monitor warranty, PPM and corrective actions.
Follow and support group directives and standards including gate release process and IATF 16949.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
Routine reporting to Management on project details pertaining to process improvements, corrective action as well as risk assessments and potential solutions to prevent discrepant product.
Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts for new projects (e.g., APQP, QD83).
Monitor and improve quality performance of products and processes.
Performs Dock Audits according to Audit Plan.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
Comply with all IATF16949 policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering plus 3 - 4 years of experience (internship/co-op included)
Strong written and verbal command of the English language
Basic knowledge of ISO IATF 16949 and/or VDA
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to influence and engage at multiple levels within internal and external organizations
Excellent project and planning abilities
Able to manage multiple responsibilities
Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills
Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to project
Preferred Skills and experience:
B.S. in Quality Assurance, Materials Science, or Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
Some experience implementing a quality management system
2-5 years of progressive experience in quality function
German and/or Spanish language skills
Experience with SAP preferred
Experience in the Automotive industry
