Position Summary
Podiatry / Podiatric Surgery -- Assistant Professor position
The Michigan State University division of spine and orthopedics seeks board eligible / board certified candidate for a full time, Associate / Assistant Professor faculty position in the podiatric surgery division.

We have a growing clinical program that provides a broad range of opportunities for clinical practice, teaching, and research. The position includes a strong clinical focus on inpatient and outpatient surgical patient care, with active participation in the clinical education of diverse medical students at Michigan State University.
Podiatric faculty provide clinical care and procedures in MSU''s office space. Inpatient care and surgical procedures are performed at McLaren Greater Lansing and Sparrow Hospital with optional ASC block time available. Both hospitals are fully equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and support high case volumes. Each hospital has two DaVinci Xi robots with teaching consoles to support resident educational needs.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Medicine
Minimum Requirements
DPM degree or equivalent; meets required qualifications for a State of Michigan medical license.
Board eligible or board certified in podiatric surgery.
Residency training in podiatric surgery
Desired Qualifications
Fellowship training or significant experience in podiatric surgery is recommended.

Summary of Health Risks
Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions. TB risk or work within 3 feet of human patients in a health care setting or have potential exposure to animals or to specimens with Mycobacterium. Risks that have been identified by Environmental Health and Safety, such as exposure to chemotherapy, formaldehyde, etc.

Department Statement
The Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties includes full-time, part-time and clinical faculty who contribute towards education, research, and clinical aspects of the surgical specialties. These include the divisions of anesthesiology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology (clinical and surgical), orthopedic research, orthopedic surgery (including spinal reconstruction), podiatry, and urological surgery. The department trains osteopathic students for the practice of medicine and surgery by developing college curriculum through the organization of classroom, hospital, clinic, and specialty programs that provide the highest quality education and role modeling. We are committed to developing and assisting in quality research programs, as well as in community health services and continuing medical educational programs that serve the profession, the medical community at large, and the public to improve the quality of health services for all.
